Walk beaches of powder white sand, hike pink granite mountains and discover forests of towering white gums where you and your walking companions, maximum 10, feel like the only souls on earth.
Our owner-operated walk offers the satisfaction of a good day’s hiking carrying only your lunch, jacket and camera. We return each evening to our secluded award-winning Friendly Beaches Lodge where there are steaming hot showers, deep baths and comfortable beds. Unwind with a glass of wine by the log fire, peruse the library, watch visiting wildlife or simply absorb the peace.
While you relax, lodge hosts prepare delicious, healthy meals with just the right amount of indulgence. Enjoy candle-lit evenings spent around the dinner table in the good company of your fellow walkers.
Freycinet Experience welcomes solo travellers and does not charge a single supplement. Guests may enjoy a single room at no extra cost. Group and locals discounts are available on request.

Facilities: After a good day of hiking, guests return each night to the award winning Friendly Beaches Lodge. Situated on a 130 hectare private sanctuary, which is in turn surrounded by the Friendly Beaches National Park, the location and isolation of the lodge is sublime. Built 21 years ago this architecturally designed building was ahead of its time, long before ‘environmentally friendly’ was fashionable. The lodge sits lightly on the surrounding bush, employing solar power and it’s own rain water supply to ensure disturbance to its surrounding environment is minimal. Built entirely from local timber (eucalyptus obliqa), the lodge is a building of timeless sophistication. Warmed by the sun and log fires and decorated by hand picked works of art by Tasmanian artists, many guests find it hard to leave this sanctuary. Activities include, walking, fishing & boat trips. Led by engaging knowledgeable guides, guests are taken by boat into remote and rarely explored corners of the Freycinet National Park. Guests then travel in the footsteps of the Oyster Bay tribe, traversing the same ancient bush tracks trodden some thirty thousand years ago. Here they discover diverse marine and wildlife, nesting lagoons, wildflowers and other unique flora.
